CADSORB CA 25 CANISTERS

INSTALLATION AND OPERATING PROCEDURES

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

CADSORB is a unique concept for air pollution control. The CADSORB, CA 25 units are modular, discard able, prefabricated canisters containing specially (impregnated) activated carbon developed specifically for (sewage) odour control applications, and all the essential components of a full scale adsorption system.

CADSORB CA25 units have been developed to provide a simple, economical method to control noxious, unhealthy and unpleasant odours emanating from storage tanks, reactor vessels and other sources where small amounts of obnoxious, toxic or odorous gases are vented into the atmosphere.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

CADSORB units are shipped ready to install. The CADSORB CA 25 canister is self-supporting and should be placed on a level accessible area as near as possible to the emission source. In most cases, all that is required for installation is a flexible hose or pipe connecting the vent to the 50mm inlet of the CADSORB CA25. A 50mm socket is fitted in the canister cover, thus allowing easy installation of an outlet vent.

CADSORB can operate either from a continuous suction across the vent produced by a blower, or by using the positive pressure inside the tank, wet well etc. In most cases, the pressure within the tank or reactor is sufficient to overcome the pressure drop across the CA Absorber, thus eliminating the need for a blower.

The pressure drop across the activated carbon will depend on vapour composition and flow rate. The CADSORB canisters are intended to operate with a minimal backpressure.

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

The granular activated carbon used in CADSORB CA 25 canisters can release heat by reacting chemically with oxygen. To prevent heat build-up within a vessel, the carbon must not be confined without adequate airflow to dissipate the heat. In situations where there is insufficient or disrupted airflow through the vessel the chemical reaction can be prevented by sealing the inlet and outlet connections to the vessel.

CADSORB should not be used with vented vapours, which are not compatible with the material lining of the canister. Our personnel will assist in this matter.

In the case of flammable materials or potentially reactive materials, suitable flame arresters should be installed to isolate the CADSORB CA 25.

MAINTENANCE

The CADSORB CA 25 unit, having no moving parts, is essentially maintenance free, It is recommended that a suitable drain valve be fitted in the duct ne the base of the unit be opened occasionally to drain off any excess water or condensed organic, if necessary. Alternatively, a loop seal can be fitted.

ACTIVATED CARBON

The CADSORB CA25 contains around 70kg of special vapour phase granular activated carbon.
